After a string of hits, another film has made its mark at the ticket counter in 2011, this one being Milan Luthria’s The Dirty Picture. The film, which took a flying start on Friday and grossed around Rs 10 crore on its second day, is now among the top ten domestic openers of the year, a first for actress Vidya Balan.
The Dirty Picture also took a fabulous opening on Sunday, and tradewallahs are looking forward to a splendid first weekend.
In Mumbai, Rajesh Thadani of Multimedia Combines says, “The film had an excellent second day at the box office. The Dirty Picture wrapped up its second day at around Rs 3.5 crore in the Mumbai circuit and Rs 10 crore domestically. Sunday is expected to be bigger and better and hopes are high.”
In Gujarat, Ajay Bagbai of Rajvi Trade Link says the film collected around Rs 75 lakh in Gujarat and Rs 20 lakh in Saurashtra. The all-India, second day collections were around RS 10-11 crore. “The film has opened at a very positive note today.”
