Surendranagar: A state government employee at road and housing department office near collectorate here opened fire from his license revolver at a contractor on Thursday. The victim survived the attack with bullets in his leg and was shifted to an Ahmedabad hospital on Friday.
According to Surendranagar police, accused O P Meena, chief accountant with road and housing department, fired two rounds from his revolver at Dipak Aswani. Aswani was injured in his leg and was rushed to C U Shah Medical College, from where he was later shifted to Ahmedabad for treatment.
"Our preliminary investigation revealed that Aswani had apparently run into dispute with Meena over billing of his contractual work. Aswani had even threatened to file an RTI application, which incensed Meena, provoking him to launch the attack," a Surendranagar police official said.
Police have arrested Meena and started investigation in the case.
