The
Vankar are a
Hindu scheduwed caste found in the states of
Gujarat and
Rajasthan in
India. They are also known as Patni Vankar.
The Vankar are said to originate in
Saurashtra, and migrated to
Patan de historic capital of
Gujarat. They are now mainway found in the city of
Ahmedabad,
Mehsana and also found in
Banaskanda. They are endogamous community, consisting of a series of exogamous clans.
The traditional occupation of de weaving cloths known as "Khadis". This remains their main occupation, altough some are also involved in sewing cloths & sarees are engaged in making world famous Saries known as "patoda". At present dis community got excellent economical growth in education and Business & reputed occupations.
